Fajr Music Festival starts in Iran

The 32nd Fajr Music Festival has launched on Friday at Roudaki Hall in Iranian capital city of Tehran.

The event started by a performance of Indian acclaimed musician Shahid Parvez Khan in the inauguration ceremony.

The Sitar player was quoted by the media as saying that it was a great honor to him to perform in Iran.

“This is the first time I’m visiting Iran and I try to introduce a small part of Indian music in my performance,” he added.

Born in 1958 in Mumbai, Khan was trained by his father and teacher, Ustad Aziz Khan.

Fajr International Music Festival is Iran’s most prestigious Music Festival, founded in 1986.

Since then, the festival has enjoyed strong performances of many famous national and international artists.

The 2017 edition of the event is chaired by Iranian musician and traditional vocalist Hamid-Reza Nourbakhsh, who is also the current director of Iran’s House of Music.

The festival is a platform to introduce and create awareness about less-known musicians, Nourbakhsh said earlier about the event.
